Refund Policy

Last updated: August 20, 2026

This Refund Policy explains when you can and can't get your money back for a Compass purchase. It applies alongside our Terms of Service. All payments are processed by Stripe; Compass never sees or stores your card details, and any refund we approve is issued back to the original payment method through Stripe — we cannot refund to a different card, account, or by any other method.

1. The full report ($3.49, one-time)

Your card is charged only after Stripe confirms the payment succeeded, and your report is generated immediately afterward, specifically for you and your assessment answers. Because of that, the report fee is non-refundable once your report has been generated, except where required by applicable law.

We will refund a report charge if:

  • You were charged but, due to a technical error on our end, no report was ever generated for that charge.
  • You were charged more than once for the same report (a duplicate or double charge).
  • The charge was unauthorized — for example, someone else used your card without permission.

Outside of the situations above, we don't offer refunds for change of mind, dissatisfaction with the report's content, or because you retook the assessment and unlocked a second report. If something about your report seems wrong or broken (not just not what you hoped for), contact us — we'd rather look into it than leave you unsure.

2. Compass Pro (subscription)

Compass Pro is billed monthly or annually and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account — cancelling stops future renewals but does not end your current billing period early: you keep Pro access, and any remaining monthly credits, through the date you already paid for.

  • We don't refund the unused portion of a current billing period when you cancel.
  • We don't offer partial refunds for annual plans cancelled partway through the year.
  • We will refund a Pro charge if it was a duplicate charge, an unauthorized charge, or a renewal that went through after you had already successfully cancelled before the period ended.

3. Schools & group purchases

Group or cohort purchases arranged through our schools page may follow different refund terms agreed in writing at the time of purchase. Where no separate agreement exists, the terms above apply.

4. How to request a refund

Email support@compass.app from the address on your Compass account, with:

  • The email address or account the charge was made on.
  • The approximate date and amount of the charge.
  • What happened — e.g. duplicate charge, no report generated, unauthorized use.

We aim to respond within 2 business days. If we approve a refund, we issue it to Stripe immediately; Stripe's own processing time for the funds to appear back on your card or statement is typically 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer — that part is outside our control.

5. Chargebacks & disputes

If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us first — most issues can be resolved faster this way than through your bank. If you file a chargeback with your card issuer instead, Stripe will notify us and we'll respond with the transaction records available to us (payment confirmation and, where applicable, evidence that the report was generated and delivered).

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
